We've been very lucky to have volunteers help us in many aspects of the arboretum's operations, not least with our online activities. Our very first website was set up almost a decade ago by Harry, and the most recent one was kindly developed by Phil just a few years ago.
But technology moves quickly and more and more people are now accessing the web via phones and tablets, making it ever more important that we have a web site that works well, regardless of what device is being used, and is user friendly both for site visitors and for us trying to manage the content!
One of our lovely volunteers, James, brought to our attention a new platform for making websites and we've spent some time over the closed period transferring everything across to our new online home, adding some rather natty new features and making it all look (hopefully!) rather fabulous.
While aesthetics are important, what we're most excited about is that we can now process membership applications online - a real breakthrough for us and a real step forward in customer convenience.
We look forward to your feedback so we can iron out any glitches we haven't yet spotted, and continue to improve the site over the coming weeks and months in response to your experience. And let us know if there's anything you'd like us to add!
