The International Plant Sentinel Network (IPSN) funded the project in March 2024 ‘Research and create blueprints of a useful suite of posters and signage to support and facilitate implementation of good biosecurity practices at botanic gardens and arboreta internationally.’

Following on from my project last year - Alexander, G. (2024). Research and creation of an illustrated basic biosecurity guidance poster for botanic gardens and arboreta: Project Final Report for International Plant Sentinel Network (IPSN) - this project was designed to expand on that idea by researching and creating blueprints of a suite of posters and signage to support resource challenged botanic gardens and arboreta internationally with implementation of good biosecurity practices.

 A survey of botanic gardens and arboreta internationally showed there was an appetite for these kinds of assets with varying priorities between organisations of different sizes and means.

The resulting suite of poster and signage blueprints created can be freely downloaded and installed off the peg, individually or as a set of matching, professional resources without additional time or money being invested. Alternatively, the editable blueprints can be requested and customised to include organisational brand guidelines, logos and bespoke information.

Sharing this suite of assets internationally via IPSN will help reduce the need for individual organisations to invest limited resources in reinventing the wheel. I encourage botanic gardens and arboreta to share their own resources with IPSN to add to the asset bank, facilitating a levelling up of resource provision between resource rich and resource poor sites.

Although specifically designed for botanic gardens and arboreta, the series is available for anyone to download and use to support implementation of good plant health and biosecurity practices at their site. Feedback from the target audience and stakeholders has been very positive so far.
